For years before Michael Jackson's death and at the height of Spike Lee's cinematic fame, Lee dissed Jackson repeatedly, referring to him as a "sell out" and "wannabe white", based on Jackson's numerous plastic surgeries to Europeanjize his features and bleaching his skin.
All of a sudden, Lee has changed his tune and has decided to produce and direcrt a documentary based on Jackson's making of his 'Bad' album.
Why?
Lee had no love for Jackson, opting for Jackson's one true rival at the time, Prince. Somewhere along the way, Lee changed his mind. Was it the fact that everyone seems to be cashing in on Jackson's death and Lee figured he was going to get himself some? Or is this a true gesture to the self-proclaimed King of Pop?
I think a little of both.
